On the future of Iron field there is a open and rather advanced discussion between the Navy and the Port System Authority, who plans to use it for nautical and recreational purposes. The president declared it yesterday Mario Sommariva during the hearing in front of the members of the public works council commission – in which the Via del Molo projects for the redevelopment of the town’s sea front were also discussed – effectively confirming what CDS wrote in recent weeks.
“The Iron Field is an example of an underutilized area not yet returned to civilian uses. Discussions are underway for reuse, obviously with the necessary environmental redevelopment. It is clear to us, but also to the Navy, that whatever is done it is not possible to envisage a road system that extends to Cadimare: if anything, one is needed alternative road system that enters the military area. There are ideas, but not yet the result, which has a slow maturation. But it is necessary to think that if you start working on the Campo in ferro you must also think about it sale of areas which allow for the creation of an alternative road system, which could possibly lighten the one that currently reaches the village of Cadimare”, explained Sommariva in answering the questions posed in the introduction of the debate by the councilor of the mixed majority group, Fabio Cenerinibased on the letter sent by citizens to the Adsp.

If instead we have to do it alone, let us be given the resources to do it. In the meetings held up to now – stated Sommariva – the Marina said she will take care of it and then he will hand over the area to us. There are environmental, social and civil needs, but today there is clearly a landlord. For our part, we are also willing to collaborate in a trial, but we are told how to do it. We certainly cannot support such an initiative alone.”
The advisor of Avantinsieme Franco Vaira raised the problem of the lack of berths available to residents of La Spezia. “The issue of accessibility of citizens and tourists to the sea and moorings must be taken into account.
