Do you have an electric car or are you intending to buy one and don’t know where the charging points are, apart from your garage, in Sicily and throughout the national territory? The Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has released a detailed map with which to identify the closest point, recharge the vehicle and avoid the danger of running out of dry batteries.
The portal of the single national platform provides all the details and is constantly updated. It thus turns out that, to date, in the province of Ragusa there are 107 stations for charging electric cars.

The detail in the twelve cities

The territory of Ragusa has 64 scattered throughout the city and another 15 between Marina di Ragusa and surrounding areas. In Vittoria there are 14, plus 2 in Scoglitti; in Modica 13, two of which in Marina di Modica.
The seaside villages of Scicli are also served: there are 12 charging points in the city, then 4 in Playa Grande, the same number in Donnalucata and Cava d’Aliga, 2 in Sampieri.
Comiso has 6 (plus 3 in the airport car parks); Acate, Chiaramonte, Ispica and Santa Croce Camerina 2 each.
There are no charging points in Pozzallo, Giarratana and Monterosso Almo.

The market

The electric car market, at least in Italy (but also in France and Germany), is still in its infancy. The price of the models, a certain reluctance regarding autonomy and recharging – certainly slower than refueling vehicles powered by derivatives from fossil fuels – the cost of recharging, the incentives for producers and consumers are holding back the market. Yet there are countries like Norway, among other things one of the largest producers of crude oil, where 8 out of 10 new cars sold run on electricity.

But it’s only a matter of time. The EU has decided that after 2035 the sale of new internal combustion cars will be banned. Electric, hydrogen and other technologies will have the upper hand, in the name of a better energy transition, which is however often questioned.

The installation of the control units reflects the distribution of electric car sales. In Sicily there are currently 559 charging points, with 2,621 in the Milan area alone. Throughout Italy there are 32,007.
