Episodes of theft and irregularities at Fiumicino airport

At the Leonardo da Vinci airport in Fiumicino the trail of thefts and irregularitieswith interventions by the police which led to sanctions and complaints. The police have identified several cases of violations, ranging from attempts to obtain customers at the terminal exits to irregular approaches to duty free.

Illegal public transport activity

The Carabinieri of the Rome Airports Company have identified and sanctioned five people who were trying to obtain customers among passengers near the “Leonardo Da Vinci” airport. This intervention is part of a service aimed at combating the abusive operation of non-scheduled public transport activities. Furthermore, five NCC drivers who, violating the rules, were looking for customers near Arrivals Terminal 1, outside the authorized stalls, were also sanctioned, with a total fine of around 9,000 euros. Some drivers even lacked the necessary documentation, receiving a further fine and an order to leave the airport for 48 hours.

Attempted theft at duty free

A further episode involved a person who has attempted to steal perfume packages and a tobacco product from the duty free inside Terminal 1 departures. The total value of the stolen goods amounted to 147 euros. The security manager reported the incident to the police, who reported the individual and returned the stolen goods to the shop.
