FINALE EMILIA – Sorgeaqua announces that since March 26th the interventions necessary for the technological efficiency of 5 purification plants managed by Sorgeaqua have been started. The interventions concern a series of technological and performance improvements in the five largest purifiers managed, including the Finale Emilia and Massa Finalese plants.
The overall potential on which we will act is approximately 60,000 AE (equal to 75% of the total potential managed) and among the main objectives are the 30% reduction in energy consumption, the reduction of chemicals, the reduction of approximately 10% of the sludge produced and the preparation of some sites aimed at the reuse of purified water for industrial purposes (e.g. road washing, use by the Fire Brigade, washing of yards of industrial sites). In particular, the interventions involve making the biological oxidation compartments more efficient (which accounts for over 50% of the plant’s energy consumption) through the installation of modern air generation technologies as well as advanced automation with intermittent ventilation. To this will be added, at the Crevalcore plant, a new dehydration system with lower energy consumption in order to contribute to the reduction of the overall Carbon Footprint of the entire area managed by Sorgeaqua.
Finally, in the two sites of Crevalcore and Nonantola two compartments will be set up for water reuse according to Regulation (EU) 2020/741 in Class C and D. The reuse of refined wastewater, as an alternative water source, can in fact provide significant benefits economic, social and environmental factors, key factors for the implementation of reuse programs (EPA, 2012). These benefits include greater water availability with an integrated and sustainable use of water resources, the reduction of excessive withdrawal of surface and groundwater and consequently also reduced energy consumption compared to the use of conventional water resources. The implementation of the works described is entrusted to the company PPT SRL. The additional services of “Technological efficiency of 5 purification plants” admitted to PNRR financing with Ministerial Decree no. 262 of 08.09.2023 of the MASE – Intervention 4, Sewerage and purification investments, Mission 2, component 4 of the PNRR. will be completed by June 30, 2024
For the Finale Emilia plant, whose potential is equal to 10,000 PE, the expected amount of work is equal to €150,593.22 of which €3,860.66 for safety costs. The main interventions are: making the supply of process air more efficient thanks to the installation of highly energy efficient equipment; replacement of piping in some compartments; implementation of measurement probes aimed at advanced and more performing control of the purification plant; implementation of consumption monitoring systems; implementation of the rainfall monitoring system and related automation at the wastewater relaunch stations serving the basin relating to the plant.
For the one in Massa Finalese, whose potential is equal to 9,500 PE, the expected amount of work is equal to €110,431.58 of which €3,444.12 for safety costs. The main interventions are: making the supply of process air more efficient thanks to the installation of highly energy efficient equipment; replacement of the air diffusion system in the oxidative compartments (most energy intensive compartment); replacement of piping in some compartments; implementation of measurement probes aimed at advanced and more performing control of the purification plant; implementation of consumption monitoring systems; implementation of the rainfall monitoring system and related automation at the wastewater relaunch stations serving the basin relating to the plant.
