Bari dressed up to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the Liberation with a procession that crossed the streets of the Apulian capital, gathering a river of people determined to pay homage to the memory of the partisans and the fight for freedom.

The initiative, promoted by the anti-fascist coordination of the city of Bari and its province – ANPI Bari, CGIL Bari, ARCI, Libera Puglia, Zona Franka, Unione degli Studenti, Link university coordination – saw the participation of young people, students, workers and the elderly, united by the desire to commemorate a fundamental moment in Italian history.

At 6pm, the procession started from Piazza Umberto, with demonstrators armed with banners and tricolor flags, fervently singing the resistance anthem, “Bella ciao”. The song, a symbol of rebellion and hope, resonated through the streets of the city, carrying forward the spirit of resistance that characterized the years of the partisan struggle.

At the end of the event, at 8pm, in Piazza del Ferrarese, the “Partisan Concert” was organised, also supported by the Municipality of Bari. Artists such as Evra, Vulpier, Comrad, The Sorrows of Young Walter, Cantiere Comune Mediterraneo and Davide Shorty, who contributed to paying homage to the memory of the partisans through music and words.

This day of celebration and commitment testifies to the will of the Bari community not to forget the sacrifice of those who opposed the fascist regime, and to continue to defend the values ​​of freedom, democracy and social justice for which they fought.
