The Courmayeur City Council discussed intensely during its session on March 27, 2024, focusing on a series of agenda items. The meeting saw the justified absence of councilor Luciano Gex (Esprit Courmayeur).

Among the highlights of the meeting, the approval of the 2024/2026 budget forecast and the Simplified Single Programming Document (DUPS). These strategic decisions, fundamental for the financial management of the municipality in the coming years, were adopted after careful discussion by the members of the Council.

Other crucial topics addressed during the session include: Verification and Enhancement of Properties: The Municipality of Courmayeur examined the availability of areas and buildings to be used for residential, productive and tertiary purposes, deciding not to proceed with the acquisition of new areas. This resolution was approved with 11 votes in favor and 3 abstentions. Real Estate Disposal Plan: The Real Estate Disposal Plan for 2024 has been approved, with a total of 5 disposals expected for a total income of €21,264.50. Municipal Tax (IMU) and Rates for Services: The IMU rates will remain unchanged compared to 2023, while the rates for the Integrated Water Service and other services will remain stable. These decisions were ratified with 11 votes in favor and 3 against. Individually Demanded Services: Rates for various services, including school lunches and parking meters, will remain unchanged from the previous year. This resolution was approved with a vote of 11 in favor and 3 against. Communication of the Budget of the Courmayeur Srl Service Center (CSC): The Council noted the CSC’s 2024 management budget, with a particular focus on car park management and extra costs.

After addressing financial issues, the Council examined and approved a series of infrastructure and redevelopment projects, including interventions at the La Crèche de Cécile Léonard nursery school and the lower secondary school. Furthermore, resolutions were approved regarding the management of the municipality’s real estate assets and the agreement with external companies for urban development projects.

However, not all decisions were made unanimously. The Esprit Courmayeur Group presented amendments regarding the Simplified Single Programming Document (DUPS), highlighting concerns regarding the long-term vision and strategic planning of the municipality.

Following an intense discussion and explanations of vote, the 2024/2026 Budget and the DUPS were finally approved with 11 votes in favor from the majority and 3 votes against from the minority.

The City Council session concluded with updates provided by the Mayor regarding future projects and events, including the PNRR Courmayeur Climate Hub and a conference on mountain tourism. Furthermore, representatives of the municipality have been appointed for the Monte Bianco Wildlife Reserve Authority.

This intense day of work highlighted the commitment of the Courmayeur City Council in managing the financial and infrastructural issues crucial for the well-being and development of the local community.
