“I will certainly remain here as president until the end of my mandate because I am a candidate to be president of the Calabria Region for five years”.
This was said by Roberto Occhiuto, president of the Calabria Region, answering journalists’ questions on the rumors relating to his possible national government positions, on the occasion of the mid-term press conference. “I have no other ambitions or ambitions – added Occhiuto – and even the roles in national politics are those that I try to spend in the interest of the region. This is because being more authoritative in national politics is equivalent to obtaining for the Region what the Region deserves. I have no intention of giving up until the end of the mandate, then we’ll see.”
“It is tiring and intense work – said the President of the Calabria Region – but to work in a region with the problems that Calabria has, you need to have incentives to not lose heart and these very strong incentives are there. And if at the end of my mandate I understand that these stimuli can still be useful and if I feel I am sufficiently motivated, I will run again. But if I understand that this experience has exhausted me, I will ask someone else from the center-right to continue, hoping to have the same approach.” For Occhiuto “there are still another 30 months of work so let’s see, if they don’t consume me completely in terms of energy, stimuli and determination I will also consider the possibility of running again but this depends on the stimuli and determination that I will be able to maintain in the two and a half years that I have left.”
