She recounted years of humiliation and violence at the hands of her ex-husband and said that he would also take her to a hospital exorcist. A meeting, that between the priest and the womanwhose contours have not yet been clarified, but which now forms the backdrop to a trial for abuse in the family. The accused is a man 57 years old who is accused of several episodes of violence, but not the one linked to the appointment with the exorcist. The ex-husband denies any wrongdoing, but the prosecutor Lisa Bergamasco he is of a different opinion and today – 29 March – at the end of his indictment he asked for a 4-year sentence.

During the proceedings it emerged that the couple had separated in the autumn of 2021 after a difficult period of coexistence also linked to the fact that one of the two daughters was afflicted by an illness. And the girl’s health problems are believed to be linked to the meeting that the accused organized with the exorcist to try to “bring his wife closer to religion”. In her complaint, the woman said further twenty years of outbursts, insults and harassment. And, according to the prosecutor’s reconstruction, the aggressiveness of the ex-spouse would have increased when he realized that, as a result of the separation, he would have to leave the house. The man denies having had violent behaviour, underlining that he occasionally reacted to his wife’s “constant provocations”.

«But from the conversations that were recorded – explained the prosecutor Bergamascor – the exact opposite emerges: the woman is targeted with exasperating verbal violence, to the point that I myself struggled to listen. It’s not reciprocity: it’s oppression». According to the accusations, the man had abusive attitudes and systematically accused his wife of betrayal. «She didn’t see anyone and after work she always stayed at home – the magistrate remarked in the courtroom – about her, but her husband even called her a nymphomaniac, making up absurd stories».

«This affair – the defense lawyers replied – Luca Paparozzi and Bruno Larosa – it is deeply marked by pain for a girl’s illness. A pain that made the testimonies unsuitable for reconstructing the events. This is why to get to the truth we cannot rely on the plaintiff’s words. Which, moreover, did not form a civil party.”
