ROME Giovanni Prestinice, 13 years old, new Standard Bearer of the Republic, resident in CrotoneSave the Children volunteer, he is committed to the issue of migration and was very active in the dramatic days that followed the tragic shipwreck on the coast of Cutroin February 2023. Giovanni has become a witness of solidarity, of those who do not want to stand still and watch but fight to raise awareness in their community and avoid the repetition of similar tragedies. To honor the memory of the many lost at sea, he delved into and shared the stories of those who died in search of a better life. With his participation in public events he tried, through dialogue and discussion, to overcome indifference and restore dignity to the victims, their families and the survivors of the massacre.
I’m in everything 29 the Standard Bearers of the Republic chosen by President Sergio Mattarella in all the regions of Italy, with beautiful stories of altruism and solidarity, many for the environment and culture. Stories “discovered” in the young lives of kids who did their best, for example, after the floods that hit the country in 2023 or who were able to transform their passion for writing or science into a “bridge” to reduce inequalities. Mattarella also awarded three plaques for collective actions.
