As part of the ordinary territorial control services, aimed at the identification of people and also extended to public establishments in order to verify whether over time they turn out to be a habitual meeting place for offenders, the Catania Police Commissioner has ordered, upon completion of the investigation followed by the Administrative and Social Police Division of the Police Headquarters, the suspension of the authorizations for the management of a bar located in a street of a historic central district of Catania.

The provision was adopted following checks carried out by agents of the “Central” Public Security Commissariat who, on three separate occasions, within a month, detected the presence of criminals; even the presence of some of them was noted on several occasions and, among others, also of people with personal prevention measures, such as the Special Surveillance of Public Security as well as the Oral Notice of the Police Commissioner. Furthermore, in the variety of criminal cases against customers, in some cases there are also precedents for drug dealing, criminal association, receiving stolen goods, robbery and extortion. Having awaited the findings acquired, the agents of the “Central” Commissariat forwarded everything to the Administrative and Social Police Division.
The provision
The latter, considering the place to be a habitual meeting place for criminals and therefore that the facts referred to were indicative of an objectively dangerous situation for public safety, as well as foreseeably susceptible to further aggravation, issued the decree, signed by the Police Commissioner, pursuant to the article 100 of the Consolidated Law on Public Security. Therefore, the police station staff went to the site and proceeded to notify the owner, ordering him to suspend all authorizations for the management of the business for 7 days.
