Jannik Sinner starts off strong straight away Madrid Masters 1000. The South Tyrolean tennis player in fact closed the fourth round in two sets, winning the derby all Italian with Lorenzo Sonego. An agile 6-0, 6-3 in just an hour and eight minutes allowed the world number two to enter the third round of the tournament. Here Sinner will meet the winner of the match between the Russian Pavel Kotov and the Australian Jordan Thompson.

At the end of the match against Sonego, Jannik spoke about the friendship that binds him to his opponent of the day: “Playing against Lori is not easy, we have a beautiful friendship off the field, we often train together and we played the Davis Cup together. But I tried to put all this aside”. In short, a special relationship, which however today was put aside.

Regarding his debut in the Madrid tournament, the Italian champion said he had good sensations on the pitch: “I started well, I played a very solid match from behind.
