The President of the Umbria Region Donatella Tesei participated in the technical table led by the Head of Department of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, Amedeo Teti. The meeting was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, Ast and the Municipality of Terni during the afternoon of today, Thursday 28 March.

During the meeting, some fundamental issues were addressed regarding the imminent signing of the Program Agreement, including that of the landfill which will be worked on through Landfill Mining with the best available technologies, guaranteed by the company, both in terms of roofing and waterproofing. There was a convergence of views at the table.

The topic of energy was also discussed, where there was a commitment by the Government to take action alongside the program agreement, just as the issue of infrastructure will be addressed laterally. President Tesei, in her speech, recalled the importance covered, also at a national level, by the Ast and the fundamental implications that the program agreement can have on the territory in terms of socio-economic returns, employment growth and issue environmental.

Furthermore, the governor of Umbria, in consideration of the substantial convergence on the various issues by the actors involved, asked for very short times to reach the signature of the agreement, a request which was accepted by the representatives of the Government. At the end of the meeting, President Tesei together with the CEO of FinArvedi, Mario Caldonazzo and the mayor of Terni, Stefano Bandecchi, were received by Adolfo Urso with whom they held a private conversation.

Minister Adolfo Urso, through a message on his official channels, took stock of the situation: “At the end of the meeting on the Terni steelworks, which took place this afternoon, I received Donatella Tesei, president of the Umbria Region, Stefano Bandecchi, mayor of Terni, and Mario Caldonazzo, CEO of the Ast of Terni to whom I wanted to express my satisfaction for the important steps forward made towards reaching an agreement on the program agreement”.

According to the Minister: “During the meeting, in fact, I found a unity of purpose and collaboration between the parties. We need to speed up the relaunch of this industrial hub, which is fundamental for the Italian production system. The signing of the program agreement represents a fundamental step in realizing Ast’s industrial plan. Let’s move forward towards the relaunch of the Terni and national steel industry.”
