Lucarelli: “The center-right moves forward with slogans and Cecchini supports the center-right”

FANO – “Aside from the disappointment of seeing that President Luciano Cecchini supports the centre-right’s electoral campaign, evident in this rather significant media one-two, we consider the centre-right’s statement regarding a failure to promote the events and tourist reception.

Certain behaviors of the center-right show a fundamental inadequacy, they are just stale instrumental criticisms that never get into the merits with concrete alternative proposals. A policy made of slogans that identifies only with the government opposition and which will not contribute at all to changing Fano”.

“In recent years the administration has managed to bring in 340 million concrete public works that will make Fano more beautiful and welcoming: it is clear that to achieve all these works it is necessary to open construction sites that cause possible temporary and inevitable inconvenience. In this historical period it is like this for all of Italy and for many private individuals, since the deadlines are dictated by ministerial funds which leave little to political choices and which have caused problems in an entire Italian system. When such impactful national and international events occur, only together can paths and solutions be found, criticism is useless and inadequate.”

“Is the nothingness the city was experiencing just 10 years ago better? Is it perhaps better to lose the funds made available with the knowledge that they will have to be repaid by our children? Do we want to continue telling fantasies during the electoral campaign and then disappoint citizens’ expectations? Just look at what was said by the CDX in the healthcare sector and what is happening instead. We need responsibility, foresight and seriousness even in the electoral campaign.”

“Setting aside the dilemma of construction sites in the city, which only seems to be a problem for Fano, while in all the other cities of the world a clear sign of growth, it seems important to us – adds Lucarelli – to have to explain some things: tourism by its nature does not suffer the presence of construction sites but requires key services to make the most of the possible stay based on the needs of the tourist himself. In April tourists travel for Outdoor, Cultural and Gastronomic tourism, certainly not for Seaside tourism. This is why the VisitCard has been included in the current projects proposed by the current administration, which require a vision of continuity, which allows guided tours of the city, openings to archaeological excavations, important exhibitions such as that of Perugino, Mile 0 gastronomic proposals, valorisation of the maritime tradition, relationships with the inland villages (Valleys to Discover and Beauty Itineraries), bike and trekking routes, etc.

This is why in addition to this, here too we need continuity that does not allow us to go back in time, we have opened relationships with the main sports clubs to bring quality tournaments and events to Fano that bring important out-of-season attendance. They are projects, that’s not the case.”

“I would expect from the president of the hoteliers – continues Lucarelli – a job to increase services in the structures, perhaps working together on Bike Hotels, on Family Hotels, on new openings given that we now have to send people to sleep elsewhere during the Volleyball tournaments, during the Carnival and often throughout the month of August.

From this point of view, the city now needs to take a step forward also in the creation of a real project that collaborates with all the trade associations in the sector for the management of tourism services, starting from the management of IAT points. It’s part of our program and we will certainly do it for the benefit of everyone.”

When it comes to promotions and events, a little smile doesn’t hurt! In recent days an exponent of Fratelli d’Italia on TV pointed out the need for an APP to promote the events. The current administration has included it 3 years ago and last year it was awarded in Brescia as Technological Innovation of Bergamo Brescia Capital of Culture 2023, together with the VisitCard. Informing yourself before proposing yourself as the future government of the city would be a must. Same thing for the events to be presented in October”.

“On November 7, 2023, the city presented for the first time in its history the Autumn, Winter, Spring events program which in fact went up to Easter with an indication of events up to May. Furthermore, in recent months we have presented, together and thanks to the relevant associations and bodies, the dates of the city’s main summer events: all this for promotional reasons”.

“On 6 February 2024 the city participated in Bit Milano where it presented the city’s events and activities including the Valli aDiscovering and Itineraries of Beauty project in the presence of trade associations”.

“On 7 February 2024 the city was in Sanremo for an important promotion of the Carnival thanks to the collaboration with the Marche Chamber of Commerce”.

“1l 27 February 2024 the city opened an important collaboration with Noi Marche Bike Life for the promotion of Bike Itineraries of the city of Fano and the entire Marche Region, a project which also obtained a national award”.

“On 7 April 2024 the city and the hoteliers promoted the city of Fano and its events in Nice thanks to an open collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Nice to be able to better enter the French market: from this date the city of Fano has a series of contacts with French tour operators to whom we communicate every event and activity by sending specific media kits>”.

“In 2023 we opened a relationship with the Mie of London and we work consistently together with the Twin Cities”.

“In 2020 we formed the new VisitFano Team which, thanks to social promotion, reaches 25,000 stable users, 70% of whom are from outside the region with Reel and promotions that tell fantastic cross-sections of the city starting from the peculiarities envisaged in our strategic plan. Also in 2020 we set up a new mass newsletter project that reaches tour operators and companies in the tourism sector including our accommodation facilities to be constantly informed about Fano’s proposals”.

“For 4 years now we have been involved in important international projects for the valorisation of traditions and to grow projects and promote tourism. From 2022 the Municipality of Fano manages 3 Iat points with the opening of the new center in Piazza XX Settembre as well as those of the port and Torrette. To this must be added the entire path of infrastructure that the administration has put in place with the Museum dedicated to Vitruvius, the Carnival Factory, the Ecomuseum dedicated to the Traditions of the Sea, the Ecomuseum of Metaurilia and thanks to which Fano has a potential growth of a very high level such as to become one of the top destinations in the Marche region due to its attractiveness.

This vision and strategy will certainly increase the presence of the city, which has already seen a growth of around 18% in these 5 years, and will be a motivation to attract investors”.

“All this operational ferment is dictated by a plan and by defined and written strategies, created together and thanks to the setting up of an Economic Roundtable that was able to think together. Aside from claiming paternity, together with other colleagues, of this administrative activity – concludes Lucarelli – I am sincerely very worried about today’s statements both from the president of the Hoteliers but even more from the CDX with respect to a possible government proposal: it denotes a real inability in proposing something serious starting from what has been achieved, something that the city certainly cannot afford”.
