Two Danish Tourists Blocked by Bad Weather Saved

In a recent rescue operation, the Carabinieri of the Company of Lercara Friddi they demonstrated considerable skill and dedication, coming to the aid of two Danish spouses who found themselves in difficulty in the countryside of Castronovo di Sicilia.

The tourists, holidaying on the island, faced adverse weather conditions which made their situation particularly dangerous.

The couple, while trying to reach a local hotel, relied on the directions of a navigation app. Unfortunately, the suggested route took them along an unpaved country road.

After traveling several kilometres, their car got stuck in the mud, aggravated by the incessant rain.

The situation for the two Danes became critical when it became clear that they could not free themselves. Fortunately, they managed to establish contact with the local Carabinieri, providing sufficient details for their location.

Thanks to their in-depth knowledge of the area, the military managed to find them after hours of searching in pouring rain.

Immediately after locating them, the Carabinieri provided first aid and coordinated the arrival of further support from the Civil Protection and the Local Police of Castronovo di Sicilia. The rescue operations were complicated by bad weather, but effective coordination ensured the safety of the tourists.

Finally, the two spouses were taken to the local barracks and subsequently accompanied to their hotel, where they were able to recover from the traumatic event. This incident highlights the importance of adequate preparation and caution when using navigation applications in rural and unfamiliar areas, especially during adverse weather conditions.
