The minority municipal councilor Mariolino Andria presented a question addressed to the Mayor of Sassari and the Council regarding the dramatic increase in incidents relating to break-ins, damage to cars, thefts both in homes and in commercial and business activities, therefore in city schools including unspeakable acts of vandalism.

Andria he underlined that “the current majority took office in July 2019 promising safety and protection of the most sensitive sites in the city, such as the historic center and schools, and that with the imminent expiry of the council the situation appears even worse than in the past” .

“In the council context – highlights Andria – several times the undersigned and the minority in general have requested an effective plan to protect the safety and well-being of the citizens of Sassari with short-term measures identifying clear priorities. The citizens of Sassari no longer feel safe and experience with worry and fear the ease with which cars, private property, places of work and business and unfortunately several schools are violated.”

“A clear failure of this so-called majority of citizens appears evident – Andria continues in the question – on the planning of video surveillance, lighting and protection systems to prevent the most sensitive sites. Many episodes of theft, burglary and vandalism are based on a marked social emergency in the city resulting from a widespread cultural drying up and a marked resignation and indifference to degradation, present in various areas and in symbolic places of Sassari”.

In conclusion, councilor Mariolino Andria asks those responsible in the Council “so that they can provide the city with credible justifications and valid reasons for the evident inadequacy of the strategies undertaken so far to instill security, prospects and well-being in the citizens of Sassari”.
