LATINA – Over three thousand visitors at the weekend joined the FAI Spring Days organized by the Latina Delegation of the Italian Environmental Fund which opened the Pontinia town hall, the Mazzocchio water pumping plant, the Pontinia water tower, the MAP Museum of the Agro Pontino in Pontinia and the historical headquarters of the Consortium for the Reclamation of the Agro Pontino in Latina. An initiative carried out in collaboration and with the patronage of the Municipality of Pontinia and the South West Lazio Reclamation Consortium, as part of the “The ways of water” itinerary.
Satisfaction was expressed by the Head of the FAI Delegation of Latina, Gilda Iadicicco and by all the members of the large Pontine group which includes the young people of FAI Giovani, the FAI Ponte fra Culture group and the many other volunteers who support the Delegation, who wanted to thank in particular the “Ciceroni Apprentices” boys, school managers and teachers, also involved in the training of students: at Liceo Manzoni, Liceo Alighieri, Istituto Vittorio Veneto and Liceo Majorana in Latina; Ramadù High School in Cisterna; Da Vinci High School in Terracina; Rita Levi Montalcini Institute of Sabaudia.
“It was nice once again to allow so many people to get to know and appreciate some of the most evocative and lesser-known places in our territory – states Gilda Iadicicco – the synergy between the various bodies has allowed not only the opening of some usually closed sites such as the water tower, but also to see its fountains turned on again after decades or to witness the shutdown of
a water pump in Mazzocchio or, again, to admire an important place for the history of the Agro Pontino such as the historic headquarters of the Consortium, now as then the office headquarters”.
Iadicicco announces that “given the great success of the theme of “The ways of water”, the Latina Delegation has decided to continue this journey through the different realities yet to be discovered in our territory”.
