Procession of the Mysteries in Bari: the complete itinerary
Descriptive text here
With the Missa in Coena Domini this evening, Thursday 28 March, the Easter Triduum in Bari will come to life. Tomorrow, Good Friday, there will be the traditional procession of the Mysteries through the streets of the city centre. This year it will be the turn of the Vallisa simulacra, popularly called “the chiangiaminue”, as they usually come out in years when Easter comes low, with a high chance of rain. The dualism with the bearers of San Gregorio is ancient (the sellers), who will return to the streets next year.
The Mysteries of the Vallisa are currently nine: Jesus in the Garden, Saint Peter, Jesus at the column, Jesus with the cane or Ecce Homo, Jesus carrying the cross, Saint John, Calvary with Magdalene at his feet, dead Jesus, Our Lady of Sorrows.
