“Let’s save bees and biodiversity”: meeting with Cardarelli students

TARQUINIA – Once again the Lions Club of Tarquinia is close to the schools with an important service, namely a meeting with the students organized in the main hall of the IS. V. Cardarelli, thanks to the collaboration and availability of the manager Laura Piroli and the teaching staff, in particular Professor G. Mazzapicchio, to talk about the national study theme of Lions International “Let’s save bees and biodiversity”.

In a classroom full of students of the Agriculture course, Professor Naldo Anselmi, esteemed professor Emeritus of the University of Tuscia for the Department of Agriculture and member of the Lions Club of Viterbo where he held the highest positions up to president of the board of governors Italians, as well as a scholar and expert on the environment and always dedicated to its protection, illustrated to the children the concept of biodiversity and the importance of bees and pollinating agents in order to safeguard it.

He did so through a beautiful presentation which, thanks to his expository skill, aroused great interest among the students present.

Marco Lolli, expert beekeeper of the Roberto Ercolani Company, already collaborating through other projects with the school itself, also spoke, explaining to the children what the practical role of the beekeeper is and how complex but exciting this work is: from pollination to fertilization and honey production. Interacting with students through practical examples made them grow in great curiosity.

In closing, Antonio Sili, doctor in Agriculture and Lions member of Tarquinia, also highlighted the importance of consumers who have the task of choosing between high quality and safe products compared to imported and sophisticated products that they attract because of lower costs but which can be harmful to health. “I am happy with the beautiful day spent in the company of many young people – reports the president of the Lions Club of Tarquinia Laura Voccia – organized with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of bees and pollinating agents in order to safeguard biodiversity and our own survival and make them aware of how important it is to protect the environment for future generations. Albert Einstein himself said “If bees disappeared from the earth, man would only have four years of life left”. I thank the Director Laura Piroli for the sensitivity she always shows towards the initiatives we propose by opening the doors of the school she directs without hesitation and to all the speakers who captured our attention today, making us discover an immense and perfect world that revolves around bees and to nature, unknown to many and yet of extreme importance for the protection of all.” “I thank the Lions Club of Tarquinia and its President – reports the Director Laura Piroli – for the constant collaboration with IS Cardarelli, which is enriched during the year with numerous and significant initiatives proposed by the Club, aimed both at training but also to the well-being of the students and for the never-failing support for the school’s projects such as most recently the Certame Cardarelliano, through the donation of a scholarship. I am sure that we will also be able to count on the Lions Club of Tarquinia in the future for many other relevant activities.”
