Trento was the home of the important European cultural, tourist, economic and gastronomic twinning agreement with Lussino signed on the evening of 24 April at the Grand Hotel Trento where organizations, associations, businesses and journalists participated.

In the initial messages the president of the autonomous province of Trento Maurizio Fugatti praised the initiative “which goes in the direction of strengthening ties and economic opportunities between our territories”. Councilor Roberto Failoni shares the same sentiment: “We are immensely happy to embark on this path of collaboration and mutual exchange”.

At the event, coordinated by Vittorio Baroni, author of the project, Elio Gabardi from Coldiretti Trentino Alto Adige and Sanjin Zoretic, president of the Italian Community of Lussinpiccolo, spoke. Ileana Brcic of the Lussino Tourism Board and Filip Uzelac of Jadranka Lussino spoke at the event, coordinated by Vittorio Baroni, author of the project.

In addition to Coldiretti, the signatories of the twinning include the Centro Studi Martino Martini, the Sustainable Economy Association, the Associazione Velica Trentina, Astel, Ars Modi, associations, businesses and journalists.

Adriatic North-East Europe – which enjoys the support of the Italian Union of Koper and Rijeka – aims to generate opportunities, advantages and promote cooperation in six thematic levels: Culture, Art and History; Education and Training; Research and Engineering; Quality tourism and trade; Excellence in Craftsmanship; Fisheries and Agriculture; Communication, European Health and Safety.

Twinning toast with Bellini and Sansigot, native wine from the island of Sansego. Rich aperitif with the selection of zero km products, i.e. the “seals” of biodiversity, from Campagna Amica of the partner Coldiretti Trento.

There are deep ties between the Northeast and Lussino given that the Serenissima ruled for over four centuries and the dialect similar to Venetian is spoken here. The Adriatic North-East Europe network, guided by the slogan “Sustainability is Culture for European development”, started in 2023 when a delegation of Venetian engineers was hosted in Lošinj to study climate change.

Among the initiatives in the pipeline is a double socio-cultural and competitive regatta for the summer of 2025. From Venice to Lussinpiccolo, passing through Pula, with different sailing times between boats from voluntary associations and those competing. Expressions of interest have already arrived from Trentino from some associations.
