Fifth stage, third region touched and possible new finish in the sprint. The Giro tomorrow, Wednesday 8 May, it will leave from Genoa to arrive in Luccain the year of the centenary of the composer’s death Giacomo Puccini, born in Lucca. It should be another stage in which there are no shake-ups in the standings and actions from the big names, even if the third stage (arriving in Fossano) taught us that any opportunity can be a good one to liven up the race.

Attention to the final GPM in Montemagno

Over the course of 176 kilometers expected pay attention to the flying goals of Ceparana at km 99 (with points for the cyclamen jersey) and of Camaiore at km 150 (second bonus valid for the general classification). The finish line of the InterGiro was instead set at Luniat kilometer 120. There will be two Mountain Grand Prix, at the beginning and end of the stage respectively: first at kilometer 62 the Bracco Pass third category at 610 meters above sea level, then to just over 20 kilometers from the end of Montemagno fourth category. Not a particularly demanding climb but which, with the finish line not far away, it might stimulate some personal action. In the last two stages the sprinters managed to challenge each other in the sprint, but always caught up with the personal attempts of Pogacar, Thomas and Ganna. The imposing walls of the Tuscan city could be the scene of the third sprint in a row.
