“Victory in motion”, sport in the streets to create stimuli and relationships

Good first, despite the handicap start due to bad weather, for Vittoria on the move. The initiative, which involves four different departments of the Loggia, brought sport to the central Piazza Vittoria last night with a view to involving young people and kicking that discomfort which too often has turned into news.

The debut was with volleyball and beach volleyball (particularly the sand court that appeared in the city) with the presence of a special guest such as the cycling champion Sonny Colbrelli, but also of Atlantide Pallavolo Brescia.

“Through sport, which we consider a very powerful educational tool, we want to create inclusion,” Sport Councilor Alessandro Cantoni told Èlive. “We want to involve the kids in the square right in a square where even in the past we have felt moments of youth distress. So we want to make the kids understand that sometimes it doesn’t make much sense to just sit in this square, but through sport you can build friendships, relationships and stimuli to grow with healthy values.”

The experiment will continue this evening, always with the entertainment of Radio Bruno, and will then continue throughout the summer with new events dedicated to other sports:

  • from 9 to 11 July there will be dance and martial arts
  • from 16 to 18 July the square will see fitness and climbing activities
  • from 23 to 25 July it will be the turn of racket sports
  • from 3 to 5 September the closure will be multi-sport.

The village, animated by more than 30 local sports associations, will remain open on each of the scheduled days from 6.30pm to 11pm, with free and open access. The public will be able to train, try their hand at different disciplines or simply watch the scheduled activities.

In parallel to the schedule of events, youth policies will be implemented with the aim of promoting aggregation and social inclusion, through a local entertainment service that will involve the new generations in activities and services for well-being and sociability.

This activity will be addressed thanks to the skills of the Codici cooperatives, a company specialized in the study of the spaces and forms of youth cultural protagonism in urban areas, and Dedalus, to support the creation of an alliance between subjects immediately interested in what happens in Piazza Vittoria to territorial proximity (for example shops and bars) and by skills (third sector).

The summer experimentation has concluded, during which new data will also be collected, and a report will indicate the direction to be taken in the future.
