Avis of Sante Marie (AQ) meets primary school children to explain to them the importance of donating


L’AQUILA – Avis of Sante Marie meets the children of the “Lombardo Radice” primary school to explain to them the importance of donating. The president of the association, Paolo Nanni, met with the councilor, Giorgia Bernardini, the pupils of the fourth and fifth classes, together with their teachers Giovanna Di Giovanni and Enrichetta Di Battista, to tell them about the work of Avis and explain it concretely to them how the blood system works and why it is so important to donate blood.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the mayor of Sante Marie, Lorenzo Berardinetti, and the councilor for social policies, Simonetta Lattanzi, the history of Avis of Sante Marie, founded 36 years ago, which boasts a high number of donations compared to the number of inhabitants of the country.

“Avis represents a true pillar of the world of associations in Sante Marie – said the mayor Berardinetti – first with the historic president, Giovanni Stefanucci, then with all the others who followed and with the volunteers it has always been successful to carry out an awareness-raising activity to involve more and more people in donating blood”.

The volunteers Alessandra Cambise and Vincenzo Venturini of the provincial Avis consultancy proposed very engaging educational activities and, with the help of a video, spoke about the association, blood, the circulatory system, the various blood groups and the importance of donate blood for yourself and others.

“The presence of the association at school – explained councilor Lattanzi – wants to express the closeness of the world of volunteering to the little ones with the aim of forming an active, informed and aware future citizenry”.

The students were then involved in a group game in the gym inspired by the world of blood. At the end of the morning everyone received Avis gadgets: a pen and a water bottle to use every day.
