5th stage of the Giro 2024, Genoa – Lucca we run today, in the first of the three weeks of the Corsa Rosa. A section once again probably dedicated to the sprinters of the day, with a sprint finish after two climbs, one of which, the 3rd category Passo del Bracco which could offer surprises. We are in the middle of the week and we are tackling the Apennines with two GPMs scheduled and a 178 kilometer route that leaves Liguria and arrives in Tuscany. Arrival dedicated to sprinters, everyone hopes for an encore Jonathan Milan.

The 5th stage of the Giro d’Italia: route and altimetry of the Genoa-Lucca
Mid-week and approach to the Apennines and the weekend with the first time trial scheduled in this 107th edition of the Giro d’Italia which is preparing to get underway. From Genoa to Lucca fertile ground for some breakaways to be set up in the first part of the route, where there is the GMP (third category) of the Bracco Pass ready to provide some surprises. Then almost constant plain, up to Camaiore where you climb towards Montemagno (4th category) and finally the arrival in Lucca.

Where to see the Giro d’Italia on free-to-air TV and streaming on Rai
All stages of the Corsa Rosa will be broadcast on TV, free-to-air, on the Rai channels (Rai Sport HD and Rai Due) and by paid subscription for Eurosport users. It will also be visible in free streaming on RaiPlay and by subscription on Discovery+, NOW, SkyGo and DAZN.
Where does the Corsa Rosa pass and at what time: timetables
Departure at 12.45 from the Ligurian capital and then dive into Tuscany among the first Apennines of this 2024 edition. At km 47 the first and only rough patch of the day when shortly after Sestri Levante you leave the province of Genoa for that of La Spezia and ventures onto the Bracco Pass. Finally the landing in the Tuscan lands between the provinces of Carrara and Lucca. Estimated arrival around 5.15pm
The favorites to win today’s stage
The Bracco Pass arrives almost immediately at the start of the stage but could tempt some breakaways during the day. The only point on the track to try something even if it will be difficult for the sprinters to allow any pacesetter to have important advantages: the flat finish in Lucca is too important an opportunity not to finish in a sprint. Contending for the victory are the best: Merlier, Bauhaus, Groves and, obviously, our Milan.
