An evasion estimated at around three million euros was contested by the Taranto Financial Police against the manager of a cultural association in Taranto for the illicit use of “slot machines” capable of paying players cash winnings. This is the balance sheet of some inspection activities carried out by the Fiamme Gialle of the Economic and Financial Police Unit of Taranto to combat illegal and irregular gaming. The checks represent the development, on a fiscal level, of various service operations conducted by the department which led to the identification and seizure of 11 amusement and entertainment machines not connected to the IT network of the Customs and Monopolies Agency and to the reporting of a person.

The investigations

The Ionian financiers selected the subjects interested in the investigations, owners of private clubs, betting shops and cultural associations in the capital, cross-referencing the information recorded in the various available databases with that acquired during economic control services of the territory or through specific risk analysis. Once the overall volume of gambling had been reconstructed and the tax base subtracted from taxation had been quantified at over 12 million euros, the Fiamme Gialle of Taranto noted the evasion of the single tax levy for an amount of approximately 3 million euros.
