An emblematic banner that certainly left no room for interpretation. Yesterday morning, on the barriers that still block what once was Piazza Cavour, the black writing on a white background stood out even more: “The construction site of shame”.
In large letters, with the typical style of those who are used to frequenting the steps of the “hottest” sectors of the stadiums. The construction site that makes walking and walking off-limits traffic in the heart of the city of Salerno continues to be under the spotlight of citizens, groups, associations, oppositions and politicians.
This time, however, there are those who have allowed anonymity to cast a veil of mystery over that message left on any given day, certainly the one after the city council ofthe institution in via Roma, where the construction site and the Cavour topic passed – albeit covertly and at times in the corridors – between the discussions of councillors, majority councilors and those of the opposition who continue to fight on the subject.
But the citizens apparently feel the weight and encumbrance even more, so much so that they take to the field themselves to fight a sort of war which is now only stopped by a tug-of-war between the Municipality of Salerno and Parking Cavour Srl which through a finance project should have built the underground garages in the area in front of Palazzo Sant’Agostino now forbidden to everyone and which remains the most discussed of the city of Arechi between protests, controversies, bureaucracy and now even courtrooms.
In this regard, in recent weeks an opposition was presented to the injunction by the body (against the request for 3 million in compensation from Pcs) and now we have to wait for the Tar be pronounced.
He could do it in the first few 10 days of April and depending on the sentence, further steps will be evaluated and above all how to proceed to at least try to restore the traffic around the area still occupied by barriers and the construction site, now in a state of abandonment which also represents a danger for passers-by and especially for children in the seafront promenade, partially narrowed and occupied by the work that has now stopped.
Times, therefore, which still remain undefined either on the calendar or on the roadmap of the countermoves. To date, however, the certainty is that for citizens the situation seems to have become unsustainable, despite Palace, the municipal administration put pen to paper – with a now dated council resolution 40 days ago – the stop to the construction site with the consequent entry into the field of jurisprudence which has (at least) made room for itself in the matter.
