On the afternoon of April 22nd, the agents of the Investigation Team of the Acireale Public Security Police Department executed an “Order of Execution Order for Expiation of Prison Sentence following the cessation of home detention due to the occurrence of a new executive order” issued by the Enforcement Office Criminal charges by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Catania against a 48-year-old convicted felon from Acireale, arresting him.
In particular, the man, found guilty of the crimes of mafia association and criminal associations with the final sentence of 11/14/2023 of the Supreme Court of Cassation, which declared the appeal to the sentence of the Court of Appeal of Catania inadmissible, is having to serve a total of 11 years and 4 months of prison, some of which have already been served.
More precisely, the arrested person was under house arrest for health reasons, however, the Surveillance Magistrate of Catania, having noted that the health conditions of the condemned man were compatible with the prison regime, issued his own provision rejecting the request of home detention advanced by his lawyers.
For the above, staff from the Acireale police station took the preface from his home in Acireale, where he was under house arrest, and proceeded to arrest him.
After the formalities, the man was taken to the Bicocca Penalty Institute in Catania, where he remained restricted in execution of the sentence to which he was sentenced.
