Cobbs, who had recently celebrated his 90th birthday, was born and raised in Cleveland, in Ohio, before becoming famous throughout the world. Before becoming an actor he had served in the Air Force for eight years and had also worked for IBM as a car salesman.
But when he moved to New York his life changed. Cobbs, in fact, was convinced by a client to star in a theater show and from there his career as an artist took off. Appearing on stage for the first time in 1969, he starred alongside Ossie Davis And Ruby Dee.
