Salvatore Mattia, coordinator of Socialismo XXI Jonico, through a note raises the alarm on the unsustainable situation of the municipality of Taranto.

“I believe that the situation of the municipality of Taranto is no longer sustainable without real planning, such as that which the center-left had supported. The lists that determined the victory in June 2022 did not keep the promises made. I do not want to repeat what has already been said and written, but it is clear that the city is completely out of control, despite the good intentions not accompanied by the necessary facts and solutions.

I can cite numerous examples: dirty streets, abandoned fountains, and the disaster of Via Dante. Look at Viale Magna Grecia, with the bike path in the center and sturdy trees on the sides that provide oxygen. Then there is the image in the city councils, where councilors of any political color are disturbed and bullied during their interventions by the ‘majority’. I believe that common sense must prevail over the issues of maintaining at all costs a majority that does not reflect originality.

This is why I allow myself, as an early supporter of this administration and a member of the Italian Socialist Party (PSI), to make a heartfelt appeal: it is necessary to review our position and get out of this majority, especially for those who had promised the citizens of Taranto a different direction. Furthermore, the European vote in Taranto confirmed support for the centre-left”, concludes Salvatore Mattia, coordinator of Socialismo XXI jonico.
