Mantua, 26 June. – (Adnkronos) – “It is important to be here because for us it is essential to have a new generation of entrepreneurs, a new generation of industrialists. We have been the leading manufacturing region in Europe for a year and a half and, for this reason, we must think about the future. The future is made of technological innovation and artificial intelligence but it is made above all of human capital and an environment that must continue to be welcoming towards businesses, an environment where businesses integrate within the community, exactly as happens in Lombardy. I think that’s the secret.” This is what was stated by Guido Guidesi, councilor for economic development of the Lombardy Region, on the occasion of the third edition of the Main regional summit 2024, organized by the Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia at the Palazzo Ducale in Mantua, who renew the annual meeting for discussion with institutions , companies and protagonists of the Lombardy area. The focus of the event is the relationship between the new generations, the business world and politics.
According to the Lombard councilor, the fundamental asset is “human capital, which is made up of young entrepreneurs who, over time, become less young, capitalizing on their company and offering opportunities to new generations. The Lombardy of the future also passes through here.” The Lombardy Region has always supported generational turnover “for example, we try to support self-employment activities and therefore the opportunity to take on the challenge within our territory. For us – says Guidesi – it is one of the main objectives both from an economic and socio-cultural point of view. A young person who wants to get involved must know that he can do it in Lombardy, even with the help of the Region. It is then the market that decides whether the business idea is right, but the important thing is to have the support of the Region from the beginning and I believe that we are doing it and continue to do so”.
Important for the Councilor for Economic Development of the Lombardy Region is “total openness from the point of view of technological innovation of our businesses and our production system, which must have solid foundations from a value, economic and cultural point of view. Once again, human capital, for example, will filter the positive influences of artificial intelligence and discard the negative ones”.
“Young people are innovation, they are new ideas, modernization and renewal. We must welcome them with open arms and above all we must bring them the message of the opportunity to face their own challenge independently. It is clear that we cannot communicate this message to them as we did twenty years ago, it is difficult for them to perceive the opportunities, the challenge, the desire to get involved. We must light the fuse – concludes Guidesi – If we light the fuse of young people, we will have a lot of satisfaction”.
To prevent impoverishment in Lombardy, the first objective for the councilor is “to avoid that through European rules it becomes impossible to do business, do industry and do production in Europe. Europe will be competitive in the future if it still has producers. Therefore, we must safeguard producers, support them and support the most manufacturing territories in Europe, such as Lombardy. We are the first manufacturing region in Europe – concludes Guidesi – and we want to continue to be so. For this reason, together with the other manufacturing territories, we will try to influence the next European Commission in an attempt to have more realistic indications to reach environmental objectives without damaging consequences from an economic and social point of view”.
