A selection of looks from the new unisex collection of the Roman Maison designed by the new creative director were presented as a surprise.
His debut at the helm of Valentino was scheduled for next September, in Paris, but Alessandro Michele surprised everyone, and surprisingly, on the very day that Gucci shows at Milan Moda Uomoon the night of June 17th, has Valentino’s new Pre-Spring 2025 collection has been revealed in preview (immediately taken from the Instagram profiles of WWD And BOF).
Just over two months after his appointment as the brand’s new creative director, the designer gave a preview of the new unisex collection and, above all, some clues about the new direction of the Roman fashion house. A selection of items ready to wearbags, shoes and small accessories in which the strong imprint of Alessandro Michele clearly emerges that we had learned about from Gucci.
A preview that revealed, a little in advance, his new approach and how he thought about it reinterpret the codes of the Roman Maison.
There are the coats with fur detailswhich are worn with a coordinated miniskirt, sandals with metallic reflections and visible socks.
There are the super feminine white suitsconsisting of a short jacket and above-the-knee skirt, which are a tribute to the iconic “Bianca” collection by Valentino Garavani from 1968.
And then again animalier midi skirts, high-necked shirts with ruffles, evening dresses studded with sequins, up to the new ones cult accessories: turbans, silk scarves and long strings of pearls that enhance every look.
This surprise launch inevitably sparked a wave of comments on social media, where, since this morning, nothing else has been talked about. On the one hand there are those who were happy to rediscover aesthetics (always recognisable) by the designer in the Valentino collection. On the other hand, there are those who have glimpsed too many similarities with Alessandro Michele’s “old” Gucci.
In any case, all this it only adds to the anticipation on how the designer’s vision will evolve and what direction his new creative adventure will take. We just have to wait for September…
