Tears on the air for Nunzia De Girolamo to Summer Live. The ex-Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies and now TV presenter, supported by her colleague Gianluca Semprinicould not bear the pain of the announcement of the death, at just 20 years old, of Bernardo Marzianison of the journalist Elena Martelli.
These are his words: “In this last minute allow us to say something that is not easy. It was a very difficult episode for us, for the whole team Summer Live. This was one dramatic day”. De Girolamo then continued as follows: “It was a bad day, because Elena Martelli’s young son left us. Precisely on this day I have to say that for us, for the whole team, it was very hard. So we wanted to thank the whole team, but above all we want to send a big hug to Elena and her husband Gianluca”.
A sad story that of Bernardo Marziani, class of 2003son of Elena Martelli and the art critic Gianluca Marzianiaffected by a serious form of cancer: a Ewing’s sarcoma in his left leg, diagnosed only in 2022. The boy, who was called Berni by his friends, spoke about this openly and courageously on social media, dividing his time between Rome and Amsterdam, the city where he studied.
This is how the boy described his illness: “This tumor, Ewing’s sarcoma, was diagnosed two years ago, in 2022, located in the left legwith excruciating pain which got worse, until my leg ‘died’, and I found it. I did all the chemo of the protocol, preliminary to the operation, but shortly before the operation I became metastatic and, therefore, they had to change the therapy; it’s as if the disease became chronic and simply had to be kept at bay.”
Since January, unfortunately, his situation has degenerated: “Until January in Amsterdam everything was fine, only with some leg problems, which were then resolved with radiotherapy; but then it was underestimated lung effusion, which destroyed me, caused by a progression of lung cancer, caused by failed chemo. Until then I had never been symptomatic, and seeing myself sick was difficult. I was hospitalized for a week due to that spill, then recently I had two very tough ‘red chemo treatments’, but now I’m much better than I was two months ago.” This is what Bernardo said, but unfortunately he didn’t make it.
