Rod Stewart boos at concert for support of Ukraine

Rod Stewart he paid homage to Kiev, dedicating his support to Ukraine against the war started by the Russians, in a concert in Leipzig, Germany but was booed. The tribute to Kiev began by introducing the song Rhythm of My Heart during the sold-out show in Leipzig but, reports Tag 24 news, he was greeted by the audience with a chorus of boos and whistles.

Wearing the colors of the Ukrainian flag Stewart he dedicated the song to the Ukrainian people and army before insulting the Russian president Vladimir Putin. As he performed the song, images of the war, the Ukrainian flag and the president were shown on the screen behind him Volodymyr Zelensky. The audience responded with a chorus of boos.

His support for Ukraine had been well received in previous concerts that the artist had held in Copenhagen and Amsterdam, but in Germany public opinion remains divided: there are those who fear that support for Kiev will end up intensifying the war and those who complain about the amount of money spent on Ukraine. Germany’s far-left and far-right parties that oppose the government’s support for Ukraine both made major gains in last week’s European elections.
