“They are mine, I reported them missing”

Turin, 13 June 2024 – The family feud between Margherita Agnelli and children John, Lapo and Ginevra Elkann is enriched with another chapter. The mother, dealing with one legal battle over Gianni Agnelli’s inheritance which sees her pitted against her three children, sent through the lawyer Dario Trevisan a letter to Fca and Stellantiscompanies led by his son John Elkann, to ask “from now on to provide documentation relating to the title on the basis of which Fca Partecipazioni holds works of art and third-party goods, including the originals of some of those” that she herself believes to be her property and of which she had reported missing, which were found by the Finance Department in the ‘Congress Center Archive’ of the Lingotto.

The story, at the center of one investigation by the Milan prosecutor’s office concerns the works of art, part of the treasure left by Gianni Agnelli, who once furnished Villa Frescot and Villar Perosa in Turin and a family residence in Rome, and now I am claimed by her daughter Margherita, sole heir of the real estate after the death of the lawyer’s mother and wife, Marella Caracciolo di Castagneto, who had the usufruct of it.

And since Margherita Agnelli in de Pahlen believes that the works of art are her property in the letter, addressed to the companies led by her firstborn and signed by her lawyer, she writes: “Reserving the right to adopt the measures we deem appropriate towards FCA Partecipazioni and its bodies and/or its parent company Stellantis Europe SpA and/or the parent company Stellantis, we ask you from now on to provide documentation relating to the title under which Fca holds works of art and assets of third parties ”. “We await a timely response – the letter concludes – which we would ask to be forwarded in copy to the Autoriteit Financiële Markt, to the extent of its competence”.
