The story is set in the narrative universe created by JRR Tolkien, to be considered as a prequel to the famous film trilogy. 183 years before the events of The Lord of the Rings, the deeds of the powerful King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, his daughter Hèra and the war events linked to the fortress of Helm’s Deep will be told.

The film is based on an episode of the English writer’s novels, focused on the war between Rohan and the Dunlendings. The protagonist is the daughter of the king of Rohan, Helm Hammerland, the only survivor of the genocide. The series will therefore have a female protagonist who has no name in the book, and was called Hèra in the anime.

The film, originally scheduled to be released on April 12, was reportedly moved to December 13th.
