«I was with Marco (Moraci, plastic surgeon, her husband and father of their three children Riccardo, Tancredi and Katia, ed.) – he says -. I had just met him and I had discovered that I had recently become pregnant. Despite everything, since I was well, I didn’t give up on the trip to Brazil, but once I landed in Rio I started to feel ill. I didn’t say anything to Marco so as not to ruin his holiday and I didn’t object when he asked me to move to a small village very far from the capital. We had wonderful moments on the beach and then one evening a strong attack of abdominal pain and lots of blood. The Brazilian doctor immediately asked Marco if he felt emotionally capable of helping him. He said ‘yes and was the first to verify with the ultrasound that our son was dead. They subjected me to the curettage without anesthesia. They only had very little ketamine, a powerful anesthetic used for horses. I remember blacking out and waking up when it was all over. Marco told me, ironically, that during the operation the electricity had gone out and I had risked my life. Magically, however, the next morning I regained my strength and went to the seaside with Marco who was very sweet. Then he asked me if I wanted to start a family with him. We understood this in the immense pain of losing that child.”
