Another success, after the electoral one, for General Vannacci. The magistrate of the Lucca court, Alessandro Dal Torrione, has dismissed the lawsuit with the accusation of defamation presented by the volleyball player Paola Egonu against the new MEP of the League, for the sentences contained in the book The world upside down. “There does not appear to be any evidence of exceeding the limit of continence which could be said to be indicative of a desire to gratuitously offend Egonu’s reputation, as well as to denigrate her, to diminish her value, to make an undue attack on the person.” The prosecutor’s office had also requested that the case be dismissed against Vannacci, defended by the lawyer Massimiliano Manzo. “It is the victory of freedom of opinion. We are happy with the outcome of the proceedings and with having found a judge who listened to our reasons”, commented the Army general’s lawyer. “Even if Paola Egonu has Italian citizenship, it is evident that her somatic features do not represent her Italian nature…”, is the sentence from the book, a bestseller in Italy, contested by Egonu. But in two pages the judge dismantled the accusations of defamation of the volleyball player and her lawyers.
