Girlfriend for Rent certainly represented new territory for Jennifer Lawrence: the Hunger Games star indulged in a lighter character in a film that knows how to push the limits.
The full nude scene in Girlfriend for Rent is proof of this but Lawrence was already prepared for the criticism that would accompany her hottest interpretation:” I think it’s time we had a good old fashioned laugh – the actress told Sky News – And really hard to make a comedy without offending people. Everyone will be offended by this movie in some way“. In No Hard Feelings, Lawrence plays 30-year-old Maddie who is willing to do anything to avoid losing her house and if recovering some money through a couple of dates with a shy 19-year-old at her parents’ request is the solution, Maddie doesn’t definitely back off.
The comedy contains several racy scenes and the relationship between Lawrence’s character and the young Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman) could prove controversial on the big screen. The Oscar-winning actress was aware of this and experienced the criticism with a certain serenity, aware that every comedy brings with it a humor that does not always reach the public in the right way.
