The DC Extended Universe may not have been a particularly exciting experience, but the franchise will always have to be recognized for one undeniable merit: having given us the Superman of Henry Cavill, almost unanimously considered one of the best interpretations of the character. But what would have happened if the actor hadn’t responded to Zack Snyder?
Cavill, who turns 41 today and who was chosen by Zack Snyder for a truly absurd reason, was however very close to losing the opportunity of his life: when the director called him to offer him the role in Man of Steel, in fact, the actor was too busy to play World of Warcraft!
“I saw his call, but the thing is, you can’t save in World of Warcraft, you can’t pause. That’s all live!” were the words with which Cavill told the story of his entry into the DC universe. Luckily Snyder is not the type to get offended by these things: “Is fantastic! So he must have thought like: ‘Who the fuck is bothering me? I’m playing World of Warcraft! Is fantastic. He’s a real nerd, which is why we get along so well” was the director’s reaction. Luckily, in short, our Henry’s passions did not deprive us of his Superman: let no one say, however, that the star of The Man of Steel doesn’t have his priorities straight!
