The British media have taken up a phrase from an interview given by the presenter to the «Corriere della Sera» last year. On that occasion you had portrayed Newcastle, the city in which Karius plays (only two appearances in two years and often isn’t even called up), as “very inconvenient” to reach. The reason is that there is “no direct flights to Milan, or via Paris or via Amsterdam”. Among other things, they even define the interview as “shock”, exaggerating (and a lot) with the words. We read: «The Italian presenter engaged to Loris Karius she tells him to leave Newcastle because it is very uncomfortable.” Or: «Newcastle branded as inconvenient, the player’s girlfriend orders the transfer to any team in Italy». In short, the British press has built a case that doesn’t exist.
Also because Diletta Leotta has never spoken badly of Newcastle, but has only expressed the desire to reconnect with the family, the father of her daughter. A concept also reiterated in the latest interview given to «Tuttosport»: «Loris has people alongside him who are working for him. I hope he makes the best choice for his career. In which team would I like to see him in Italy? I live in Milan and so let’s say that near Milan in terms of comfort it would be ideal for us. Monza? Monza or any other team in Italy. I would be happy if he could come and play in Serie A and be close to his family.”
