After cars, Stellantis also moves workers abroad (on cash) – Turin News

After cars, Stellantis also moves workers abroad. Or at least he tries. It’s globalization beauty. The new Fiat Panda, designed in Turin, will be produced in Serbia; the new Doblò in Algeria; the 600 is in Poland. And the workers? They are offered the choice: redundancy pay, or full salary, but in France.

The offer has arrived (for now) at the Cassino factory, where they are produced the premium Alfa Romeo and Maserati models which will stop again on Monday. And the assembly and body shop workers were offered go to work in Sochaux, the historic Peugeot factory where, in recent days, the last 3008 with a combustion engine was produced and is now turning to electric. For them, full salary and a daily increase of 130 euros for room and board and travellers.

It was instead given to the employees of the Press and Plastics department proposed a trip to Mirafiori or Sevel, in Val Di Sangro, which produces vans. A bit like in the golden years, when engineers and technicians traveled to Russia, Poland and even Brazil.

Resources and production moved like on a chessboard, as part of CEO Carlos Tavares’ plan to improve production efficiency and, above all, cut 500 million euros in out-of-pocket costs in the next six months (it was said at Investor Day), to breathe new life into capital and increase revenues for shareholders.

It is clear that the Group, beyond the important announcements of new models, is once again in the midst of a major reorganization. The model is that of ever greater globality, as was said when presenting the Great Panda. But we were talking about products, we didn’t think we were also referring to people.
