European sales: EVs down, Hybrids up

In Europe it’s time for hybrids: here the Toyota Yaris, among the best-selling.

Hybrids rise from 24.4% to 29% share

A completely different story for hybrid cars, which at the moment seem to be the favorite among European consumers. In March they recorded an increase in registrations of 12.6%. France and Italy recorded the most significant increases respectively 29.6% and 8.3%while sales in Germany recorded a marginal decline of 0.3%. Overall, hybrid sales reached 299,426 units. These are largely models mild hybrid, with a very marginal contribution from the electric motor. Finally, sales of plug-in hybridsdecrease by 6.5% last month, with Germany and Belgium recording declines of 4.5% and 15.3% respectively. France bucked the trend with a modest increase in 3.6%. In March, plug-in hybrids were sold 73,029 (7.1% share).
