Supermarkets and shops open in Rome today May 1st

It will be a day of celebration – for workers at that – but someone will open anyway. Despite the strike called by some trade unions who are asking to be able to spend May 1st at home, with their loved ones, several shops and supermarkets will open today.

Hours and openings May 1st

At the Euroma2 shopping centre, where the employees’ protest against the “always open” logic started, the opening hours are 10am-9pm for the shops and until 10pm for the restaurant area, on the top floor. The hypermarket, however, is closed: shopping yes, but no last minute shopping for the barbecue with friends.

“I work as a sales assistant out of passion, but I’m not a slave: let me stay at home at least on May 1st”. The letter from a Euroma2 employee

Leroy Merlin will open half an hour earlier, the Conad supermarket will lift its shutters from 8.30am. The parapharmacy will also be open from 9am to 9pm. Other shops will open from 10am, closing at 9pm. The Wow Side, the former Parco Leonardo, will also be open. Inside, however, the Ikea store remains closed. The shops in the Porta di Roma shopping center are closed, where it remains but the cinema is open. Shutters also lowered in RomaEst.

Among the supermarkets, excluding the Conad in Parco Da Vinci, some Pam Panorama outlets remain open (such as the one in Bufalotta, from 8am to 9pm, as well as that of Maximo) and Lidl. Shutters down for Esselunga, Coop and Ipercoop.
