(Teleborsa) – The separation of the network TIM from services with netco is an example that “will be followed by other countries, I’m not the one to say it, various operators are starting to separate infrastructure from services”. This was stated by theCEO of TIM, Pietro Labriola speaking at the 5G&Co 2024 event.

“Separating the network from the services allows on the one hand attract different investors“, furthermore “TIM’s debt condition did not allow it to support that type of investment, and this means putting the future prospects of the company and the development of the country system into crisis” added the CEO of TIM.

In the telecommunications sector, in Italy and in Europe, “the urgency of the consolidation necessary to overcome a fragmentation that is holding back the huge investments needed is being felt with ever greater force”, Labriola further said. By overcoming the vertically integrated model and the three-year plan strategy “we will be able to have the strategic and financial flexibility necessary to seize any opportunities in a market that is facing a phase of great changes and consolidation”. This strategy “will strengthen us in the offer of services, without neglecting investments for the development of 5G which will be one of the most important levers for enabling new solutions. We will focus on our data centers and the cloud, as well as on cybersecurity and the Internet of things”.

Furthermore, “we will be able to unleash the maximum from our commercial strength” with “a real customer platform of services and contents”, where new new products can be aggregated, from energy to insurance. This strategy “will lead to cash generation in the next three years” and will be able to accelerate reflections on shareholder remuneration, he added.
