A perplexing, speechless, stone-cold investigation which concerns tires speaks of the inefficiency of pressure gauges at service stations. What is it about?

Tyres, there might be a reason for the fact that they last much less than expected: according to research on petrol station pressure gauges, nine out of ten would be inefficient.

This study was conducted by SicurAUTO.it and ACI who, through this precious national survey, intended to verify the quality of pressure gauges of the stations service. What emerged?

The operation of a tire depends on how and how much it is inflated, if at the pressure correct, indicated by builder or not.

So, we wonder what it can happen if and when do we stop to monitor the pressure at petrol stations?

Tires and pressure, the study that makes us reflect

THE pressure gauges that we use are right and well calibrated? Here are the results of the specific investigation on pressure gauges in distribution stations fuel of the territory Italian. Traveling further three thousand km and controlling around 300 petrol stations, Aci And SicurAUTO.it were able to obtain important and indicative results.

Ninety percent of the pressure gauges examined did not work correctly: of the 298 devices monitored, it appears that only 10 percent were precise and truly reliable. Approximately 39 percent would be calibrated with negative errors, i.e. under the real pressure, and 36 percent with positive errors. There would also be territorial discrepancies. That is to say?

Calibration and car tyres, data from the study

The percentage of devices not correctly calibrated would be higher in Central Italy (equal to approximately 86.5%) and in the South (with a percentage of 75.8%).

Furthermore, the ACI-SicurAUTO.it investigation would have shown how 47 stations (equal to 16 percent of the sample) broken or missing pressure gauges were found in 10 locked service stations. And again: in three service areas it was necessary to pay 1 euro to have the tires checked and in one instead 2 euros.

An evidently anomalous situation, as indeed anomalous it is the all-round data that emerges from this research that i two institutes they led to fulfillment, underlining not only a structural inefficiency, but also the natural and obvious consequences that all this can have, not only at the level statistical but in concrete of every day, on safety whose guide your car, in light of tyres which are considered adequate, in terms of pressure, when in fact they are not.
