Two matches brought the Game-1 program to a close on their respective scoreboards.
CLV-Limonta Costa Masnaga defeats Futurosa iVision Trieste with a score of 85-68. Following a balanced start, the hosts write a run of 9-2 which puts them ahead by two possessions, but the Julians don’t sit idly by and get back to -1 a few possessions later; in the following minutes it is a back-and-forth that animates the match with the first quarter ending at 18-18. An 8-2 break puts the Lombardy side at +6, Trieste tries to come to their senses but Costa Masnaga’s triple is the prelude to a 7-0 run which is worth the maximum lead at 36-24; Futurosa didn’t feel the pinch and subsequently almost halved the deficit to -7, however the final say belonged to the home team who scored the points 47-35 at the end of the first half. In the second half the guests raise their heads and dream of a comeback: initially the initial attempt is returned to the sender, but the next one brings the Trieste team to -5 with just over 3′ left on the half hour mark; the shots with the clock stopped give the start to CLV for an 11-1 run useful to reach 70-55 after thirty minutes of play. The 6′ of the fourth period are all Trieste-tinged, the guests in fact score a partial score of 2-9 to get back to -8; however, the hosts have more energy having been able to manage the advantage, so in the last 120″ they build a break of 9-2 which closes the match at the final 85-68.
The Polisportiva A.Galli San Giovanni Valdarno beats Posaclima Ponzano 85-73. The first half of the quarter was controlled by the hosts who took a 15-6 lead by imposing their pace of play; the Venetians find a partial of 2-8 to go to -3, but four consecutive points help the Tuscans close the opening 10 minutes on 21-14. After the basket that sends San Giovanni Valdarno to a three-possession lead, Ponzano closes to -1 before falling behind a home run of 12-2; in the following minutes, the two rivals responded blow for blow until Posaclima scored three free throws which made it 42-32 after 20′ of play. The second half seems to give a little hope to the guests, who however suffer a partial score of 11-3 for the Tuscan +16; Ponzano responds by taking the score to -11 with a series of triples, however Polisportiva A.Galli grinds the game to reach +16 before a guest basket at the buzzer makes it 63-49 at the half hour mark. With the match already on ice, the hosts definitively dig the furrow by recording the maximum advantage in the match, the Venetians score a partial of 0-9 to get back to -10, but San Giovanni Valdarno gives life to a back and forth match that holds everything under control; the comeback attempts by Ponzano are consistent, but the tenacity of the Tuscans does not allow them to completely mend the gap, so after arriving at -9, the guests are forced to surrender at the last break until their free throw tells 85-73 at the final siren.
