Precisely the difficult relationship with his father, Tim Buckley, a beloved singer-songwriter who abandoned Jeff and his mother and later died of an overdose, is one of the main themes of the book. “I have nothing to do with my father,” Jeff declared, completely waiving his royalties.
Jeff’s life and career were a continuum of ups and downs, enthusiasms and disappointments, great certainties and sudden second thoughts. His body was found 6 days later under the Beale Street Bridge in Memphis. The event caused enormous sensation and media speculation around the world. The author, who has always excluded the reason for suicide or substance abuse, leaves a personal observation not without a veiled sense of guilt. According to Lory, in fact, Buckley’s gesture was in no way voluntary, but he had simply underestimated the consequences.
