Books: ‘The Path of the Blind’ presented

MILAN, 25 JUN – The history of the Institute for the Blind of Milan from its foundation in 1840 to the present day, the deep ties with the Ambrosian Diocese, the introduction of Braille in Italy, the search for innovative teaching methods: a a few months after the celebrations for the 185th anniversary of the birth of the prestigious institution, scheduled for 2025, the volume ‘The path of the blind in the city of Ambrogio’ was presented today, in the presence of Archbishop Mario Delpini. “This reading is a praise of Milan – said Delpini – where there are no misfortunes but conditions in which challenges are accepted. And where charity is not alms but a contribution to the promotion of the good of all”. “A volume of a historical nature that highlights the relationships between the Ambrosian Diocese and the Institute for the Blind in educational work – explains Rodolfo Masto, president of the Institute – In this place in the heart of Milan a virtuous alliance has been established which, through the generosity of Milanese and Lombard benefactors has produced one of the most beautiful fruits of Ambrosian philanthropy, a fascinating journey undertaken by the blind Milanese towards social redemption, always considering the Ambrosian Church as a constant point of reference”.
