The book ” will be presented on June 20th in the Conference Room of the RomaDiscovering Roman street art and beyond“, the result of decades of research into the panorama of urban art in the capital and surrounding areas.

The authors Antonio Doldo and Stella Maresca Riccardi accompany the reader on a journey that aims to be a look at how Rome has changed in the last 10 years and at the same time intends to offer a personal vision of the street artistic panorama with particular attention to the techniques used by the artists and their classification as well as delve into the differences between conventional public art and urban art.
In recent years we have witnessed a proliferation of works in the Roman and neighboring territory which has diversified the contemporary landscape compared to the more classic and “canonical” one for which Rome is known throughout the world and also in the capital, as happens in other European cities, tourists and visitors are attracted to this new urban scene” – underline Antonio Doldo and Stella Maresca Riccardi.

A particularly significant connotative element of street art is how it can be enjoyed by everyone, unlike what happens with works placed inside an indoor exhibition space. In the Museum the visitor chooses what to see, the work in which to deepen his interest; in urban art we instead witness a reversal of roles: in this case it is the work that “dominates” the passer-by and commands his attention” – continue the authors.

A section of the book is also dedicated to “paste-up” or poster art works, both digitally processed and hand-drawn and which are affixed through the use of biological glues; works therefore characterized by greater extemporaneousness as they are even more subject to atmospheric agents” as well as to intentional tears.

Expected at the presentation of the book, which will take place in the presence of the President of the Municipality of Rome , David Pompili, Manuela Merlo Uman, Moby Dick, Omino 71, Riccardo Beetroot, Solo, Stefania Fabrizi, Tina Loiodice, Stefano Salvi, and many others.

Furthermore, the presentation of the project “The Street is Poetry” was recently held in Municipality Guerriero, created thanks to joint funding from the Lazio Region and Municipality .

Antonio Doldo, computer scientist, owner of a photographic archive of over 6000 shots, approached the world of Roman street art in 2013, his walks around the city led him to discover the artistic, significant and connotative elements of the works and the techniques used to convey them on the walls . He develops a particular interest in artistic expressions within abandoned places, once productive realities, such as former industrial plants and abandoned buildings. His photos, almost always geolocalized, are published on Instagram and Facebook @streetartroma

Stella Maresca Riccardi she is a journalist, specialized in contemporary art and new languages of visual communication. In 2023 she founded the magazine “The Art Libido”, an independent collector in which the youngest and most talented artists on the national and international artistic scene find space. In 2023 she was included in the international magazine “The Unique Magazine” among the most interesting and innovative entrepreneurs in the field of communication.
