Arezzo, 12 June 2024 – A Saint John The events of the event for the promotion of reading continue “The squares of knowledge” promoted by the Municipality in collaboration with Unicoop Firenze – Bibliocoop di San Giovanni Valdarno and the Pandora cultural association. Friday 14 June at 9.15pm in Palomar, House of Culture, Lorenzo Pierazzi will present the third volume of the book “Three thousand five hundred jokes. Fifty-two films for a year of cinema” dedicated to the films of 2023. It is a diary that notes stories, characters, directing styles, soundtracks, intertwined trajectories between what was “seen” (at the cinema) and “experienced” (in everyday life) by the spectator. An intimate experience to be opened, however, to public sharing. It is the story of a year-long look that focuses on the sensational and unexpected success of “There’s Still Tomorrow” by Paola Cortellesi, on the Cannes-winning film “Anatomy of a Fall” by director Justine Triet, on surprises like “As Bestas – The Land of Discord” by Rodrigo Sorogoyen or “The Last Night of Love” by Andrea di Stefano, obviously passing through Christopher Nolan and his “Oppenheimer”, winner at the Oscars, without forgetting, among others, the Masters of Italian cinema released during the year: Nanni Moretti, Marco Bellocchio, Matteo Garrone.

Lorenzo Pierazzi, born in 1964, graduated in History and Criticism of Cinema and graduated in oboe at the “Luigi Cherubini” conservatory in Florence. He has collaborated with the press office of the Valdarno Cinema Fedic and, since 2021, he has been a film critic for the weekly Toscana Oggi and a member of the jury of the IPaaf (International police award arts festival). Since 2022 he has been coordinator of the regional plan «Cinema and images for schools» and is a member of the SNCCI (national union of Italian film critics). In 2023 he participated in the Moby Dick Festival of Terranuova Bracciolini, at the Luccacinema and curated the review of the summer film festival of the municipality of Laterina Pergine Valdarno. He collaborates with Acec (Catholic Association of Cinema Exhibitors) and with the online magazine Diari di Cineclub. In 2024 he was a member of the jury of the Florence Korea Film Fest and collaborated with Rondine’s YouTopic Fest. For Edizioni Toscana Oggi, he published «Three thousand five hundred jokes – Fifty-two films for a year of cinema» ed. 2022-2023-2024. The 2023 edition, finalist in the second edition of the Aracnea Film & Book Festival in Castellaneta (Taranto), won the award for best cover in the “Film Essays” category. The journalist Enzo Brogi will be there to interview the author and dialogue with him.
