On Monday 27 May, at 6pm, at the Don Minzoni Hall in Piazza Duomo 4 in Ravenna, there will be presented the book “L’affaire don Minzoni. The murder, the investigations, the trials” by Andrea Baravelli and Paolo Veronesi, both professors at the University of Ferrara.
“The book finally restores to Don Giovanni Minzoni the historical role that is due to him, removing him from hagiographic simplifications and framing him in the political context of the Lower Po Valley, where the fascist agrarian squadrism raged with the utmost determination under the leadership of Italo Balbo” they explain from the Center Donati Studies, ACLI Emilia Romagna, CIF and MASCI.
The professor. Baravelli is also the President of the historical commission, appointed by Archbishop Ghizzoni, for the canonization of Don Minzoni.
On this occasion, magistrate Antonio Costanzo of the Court of Bologna will remember Sen. Piero Casadei Monti, former member of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, who in 1983 for the National Conference on Don Minzoni, reported on the Ferrara trials, made public unpublished documents on the assassination, denounced the isolation of Don Minzoni also by the local Catholic leaders.
